Maruti Suzuki finally revealed the Jimny 5-door lifestyle SUV's price in India
On June 7, 2023, Maruti Suzuki finally revealed the Jimny 5-door lifestyle SUV's price.
In the Indian market, the Jimny competes with vehicles like the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha. However, there were claims that the jimny was more expensive after the launch.
Booking statistics indicate that it didn't bother Jimny at all. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny was introduced during the Greater Noida 2023 Auto Expo in January. Bookings began shortly after that. More than 31,000 reservations have been made for the SUV overall since then. Senior Executive Officer for Maruti's Marketing and Sales, Shashank Srivastava, stated, "Since the price was revealed on June 7, there have been more bookings.
In an interview with a national media outlet, he revealed the information. The Maruti Jimny has an ex-showroom price of Rs 12.74 lakh. The top-of-the-line model has an ex-showroom price of Rs. 15.05 lakh (Delhi). "We were getting 92 bookings per day before the price announcement, and that number has increased to 151 since then," he said.
"More than 31,000 bookings had been made as of this writing. The average daily bookings have increased after the pricing was revealed on June 7. As opposed to 92 bookings per day before to the pricing announcement, we are now receiving 151 bookings per day. So it appears that after the price announcement, acceptance increased," Srivastava added.
The Jimny starts at Rs. 12.74 lakh, while the Thar costs Rs. 10.54 lakh. The Jimny currently has no competitors in the market, technically. The only 4X4 SUV with five doors is the Jimny. There will soon be 5-door versions of the Thar and Gurkha. In the interview, Shashank Shrivastava also provided an explanation of the factors that contributed to a spike in Jimny reservations following the price announcement.
The Thar does not have five doors. In contrast, the Jimny is a 5-door SUV. The cost of the Thar's 2WD version is Rs 10.54 lakh. Six airbags are included with the Jimny, which comes standard with 4WD. Contrarily, the Thar has just two airbags. The rise in bookings following the price announcement can be attributable to buyers accepting that the price is reasonable in light of all these variables, according to Shashank.
Jimny doesn't appear to appeal to novice drivers too much. At the same time, the Jimny is becoming more appealing to people who want to upgrade their current vehicle or who intend to purchase a second vehicle. The Indo-Japanese company has introduced the 3-Door Jimny's long wheelbase version, which is marketed on the worldwide market and is primarily targeted at the Indian market.
The spare wheel is mounted to the tailboard, LED projector headlamps with headlamp washers and 15-inch gun metal alloy wheels are some of the outward highlights. The interiors of Jimny are finished and have a dark theme. The most high-end model comes with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automated climate control, a push start-stop button, electrically adjustable rearview mirrors, and steering mounted controls.
One engine option is the only one available for the Maruti Jimny 5 door. The 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine has a capacity to provide 134.2Nm of torque and 104.8bhp of power. Either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox is connected to the engine.
The SUV comes in both automatic and manual versions, with the automatic version getting 16.39 kpl and the manual getting 16.96 kpl. When the 5-door variants of the Thar and Gurkha are introduced to the market, only then will the rivalry in this niche increase. Only the next year will the 5 door variant be released. Good news for Jimny.
